When Jasper Thomas learns his 10-year-old son Xavier is falling behind in school, he responds with discipline instead of empathy—until buried grief and generational pressure push their bond to the breaking point. Set over the course of one school semester, the story follows their imperfect but transformative journey toward healing. With the help of a community reading program, a persistent mother, and moments of quiet revelation, both father and son learn that love isn’t measured in perfection, but in presence.

Whether it’s spa mishaps, date-night disasters, or mock-dating his daughter to teach her about love, Michael’s quest to live fully never goes smoothly—but it always goes deep.

Told through diary-style voiceovers and grounded in cultural authenticity, this show brings a fresh perspective to the sitcom space. It’s not just a “Black show”—it’s a family show through a Black lens. Think Black-ish meets The Wonder Years with a dash of The Office confessionals.
